Yemen: Why did US and UK carry out strikes on Houthis? – BBC News

US and UK naval forces in the Red Sea have launched air strikes against Houthi targets across Yemen.

Western forces took action after commercial vessels were attacked by the Houthis – a political and military group who control a large part of the country.

The US has said it is "not interested in a war with Yemen" but will not hesitate to use further force.

The Houthis said Thursday night’s attacks will not go without "punishment or retaliation".
