President Biden has confirmed he’ll nominate a black woman to replace retiring Justice Stephen Breyer.
He said he’ll announce his nominee by the end of February. Three judges are considered top contenders: Ketanji Brown Jackson, Leondra Kruger and J Michelle Childs.
Mr Biden promised a replacement with the "experience and integrity" needed for the role.
Justice Breyer will remain on the court until June.
