Ehud Olmert, who was Israeli prime minister between 2006 and 2009, told Newsnight that he believes that the majority of Israelis do not think Benjamin Netanyahu is doing what needs to be done to bring back the Israeli hostages and the need for a two state solution.
Mr Olmert discussed the Israel-Gaza war with Newsnight’s Victoria Derbyshire, telling her that everyone should have the “necessary opportunities” to get the humanitarian supplies they need.
The Palestinian militant group Hamas launched an unprecedented assault on Israel on 7 October. Israel immediately began a massive campaign of air strikes on targets in Gaza, in response to the Hamas attack.
