US president Joe Biden has confirmed he is going to stand for re-election in 2024.
Now aged 80 and already the oldest president in US history, Biden had long signalled he would run for another four-year term.
He made the announcement in a promotional video.
In his video, Biden argues that abortion rights, the defence of democracy, voting rights and the social safety net will be among the most important issues on the ballot in 2024.
Former US President Donald Trump has already launched his bid to return to the White House, meaning the pair could be set for a rematch of the 2020 election in November next year.
