The UN Secretary General has said the humanitarian response for earthquake-hit Syria needs an urgent injection of support.
Four days after the earthquakes that have so far claimed at least 21,000 lives in Turkey and mainly rebel-held north west Syria, a convoy of six UN lorries, due before the disaster, has now crossed over the border from Turkey, carrying the first international UN help people have had since the quakes.
The UK government has pledged at least £3 million to support the search, rescue and relief effort by volunteer rescuers, the White Helmets, but the UN special envoy for Syria said affected areas have received "nowhere near enough lifesaving aid" and warned that assistance must not be politicised.
