Donald Trump’s return to the White House is set to reshape US foreign policy, promising uncertainty on many fronts.
Mr Trump has promised to end the war in Ukraine and reset trade relations, with America First policies of protectionism and tariffs.
Policy in the Middle East, where Israel is fighting in Gaza and Lebanon with US military support, is uncertain.
The new President has a combative relationship with China over trade, while military tensions have been growing over Taiwan.
The European Union and NATO will again face Mr Trump’s longstanding demands that they do more to provide for their own military defence.
