Tons of dead fish have turned up along hundreds of kilometres of the river Oder, on the German-Polish border.
Both countries believe a toxic substance is to blame, but have yet to identify the source of the spill. Germany’s environment minister has said it was "environmental catastrophe".
It is not yet known if humans can be affected by the contamination.
