The teams tackling snakebites in Kenya – BBC News

It’s estimated that a person dies from a snakebite every 5 minutes. Many more end up losing limbs, and consequently their livelihoods. Most victims are some of the poorest people on earth, living in remote areas of South Asia and Sub Saharan Africa.
But in Kenya – scientists, health workers and communities have teamed up with researchers from Liverpool in the UK, to try and come up with solutions to help drastically cut deaths and disabilities caused by these ancient killers… Kenya’s new snakebite research and intervention centre is the first of its kind in East Africa… and the BBC’s global Health correspondent TM was given special access to their work in Kitui Country
