Surgeon Marwan Abu Saada said Gaza’s largest hospital, Al-Shifa, has run out of water, food and electricity.
The surgeon, who works at Al-Shifa hospital, added that the intensive care unit at the facility had been struck and was damaged.
The BBC cannot verify what caused any damage to the hospital.
When asked about the surgeon’s claims this morning about the ICU and shooting near the hospital, the Israeli Defence Forces said it couldn’t confirm "specific military activity currently under way", but acknowledged "ongoing intense fighting against Hamas in the vicinity of the area in question".
The Israeli military has repeatedly accused Hamas of operating from tunnels underneath Al-Shifa hospital, which Hamas denies.
