The Spanish parliament is due to vote on a controversial bill that will grant amnesty to people involved in the attempt to make the Catalonia region independent.
The proposed bill will provide protection for more than 300 Catalan nationalists who have been facing legal action, following an attempt to hold an independence referendum in 2017.
However, the proposal has also faced opposition from millions of Spaniards, prompting large demonstrations across Madrid.
