When Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk was elected as part of a new government, major reforms to restore democracy, restoring the rule of law and independence of courts, and ending what he called “the factory of lies on public media”.
But his efforts have so far met fierce resistance from the former governing party, now in opposition, which still has allies in key positions, including the presidency – resulting in a battle for the airwaves.
