NHS in Crisis?: Dying patient should have been seen in person - BBC Newsnight

David Nash, 26, spoke to his local GP over the phone during Covid restrictions complaining of an ear infection. He was not given a face-to-face appointment despite four separate calls and died three weeks later.

His infection led to a fatal abscess on his brainstem. NHS England ruled that he should have been given a face-to-face appointment on one of the four consultations.

Chief Correspondent David Grossman heard the calls and seen documents relating the case including one where Nash told the nurse "every time my heart beats, I’m getting these pains."

This comes as both main Westminster parties have sought to address better access to GPs.
