Ahead of the US election, there have been two security breaches involving the former Republican president Donald Trump.
One of these happened in Pennsylvania in July when he was shot.
These incidents have sparked a whole new wave of disinformation and hate online – and in turn, have fed into the wider belief that anything can be staged or rigged – including elections.
The BBC’s social media correspondent Marianna Spring visited Colorado, a US state which has become a hotbed for conspiracy theories, to investigate how people are being increasingly drawn in.
