Millions face starvation in Sudan as warring factions block aid delivery
As many as 5 million people are facing starvation in Sudan, where more people have been displaced by fighting than in any other conflict.
Tens of thousands of people have been killed since war broke out in 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces and their rivals, the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. Around 8 million people have fled to neighbouring countries.
There is fighting across much of Sudan. Most of Darfur is controlled by the RSF as well as large parts of Khartoum. Fighting is continuing in West Kordofan and South Kordofan in the south, cutting them off from the rest of the rest of Sudan.
