The Lebanese prime minister has said his country is facing "one of the most dangerous phases" in its history.
Najib Makati was speaking after Israeli troops invaded Lebanon, in what the Israeli military calls a "limited, localised and targeted" ground operation against Hezbollah.
About one million people have been displaced across Lebanon since Israeli air strikes began last month, Mr Makati added.
He also appealed for more aid to “provide basic support to displaced civilians”.
