But during the unprecedented attacks by Hamas on Israel on 7 October, the farm worker was seized and taken to Gaza.
The 37-year-old was held in captivity with three young Israeli hostages who were mistakenly shot dead by the Israel Defense Forces.
He was one of 23 Thai hostages released by Hamas in November and has been giving his account of what their captivity was like.
