Israel carries out ‘extensive’ strikes in Lebanon as UK nationals told to leave | BBC News

Israel’s military says it is carrying out a new wave of "extensive" strikes in southern Lebanon and the Beqaa area.

Fifteen people were killed and dozens of others were injured after the Israeli strikes in Lebanon this morning, according to the Lebanese health ministry.

Israel said it had intercepted a ballistic missile fired by Hezbollah towards Tel Aviv on Wednesday morning.

UK prime minister Keir Starmer has told British nationals in Lebanon to "leave immediately" as fighting intensifies.

The UK’s Ministry of Defence is sending 700 troops to nearby Cyprus to prepare for the possible evacuation of British nationals from Lebanon.

Australia, Canada, France, Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and the United States have also urged their nationals to leave Lebanon.
