Ireland, Norway and Spain to recognise Palestinian state | BBC News

Ireland, Norway, and Spain have announced they will recognise a Palestinian state from 28 May.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said a two-state solution was the "only alternative"; while Ireland’s PM Simon Harris said the decision would help create a "peaceful future".

But, while Palestinian leaders welcomed the decision – with the Palestine Liberation Organization calling it a "historic moment" – Israel reacted furiously, saying it would summon the three countries’ ambassadors to watch a video of the 7 October attacks.

At least 140 countries already recognise the state of Palestine – but not the UK or the US.
