The number of amputees across Ukraine is soaring as the country makes small gains in its counter-offence against Russia.
15,000 amputees were recorded in the first half of this year, according to the Department of Health in Kyiv.
Andrii Smolenskyi is one of those hurt while serving in Ukraine’s armed forces, and is on the road to recovery, with his wife Alina Smolenska by his side.
