The war in Ukraine has impacted alliances and tensions between countries around the world.

After Ukraine was hit by Russian “kamikaze” drones, allegedly supplied by Iran, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for more international help.

In particular, Ukraine is looking for help from Israel. But it is complicated. Israel has its own “tight relationship” with Russia, but is also a long-time foe of Iran.

Countries are having to strike the balance between their individual friendships and foes with one another. For the West, it’s how it balances helping Ukraine, and avoids provoking Russia.
