How I became a space telescope scientist – BBC News

"The most exciting prospect of any telescope like this is… that we’ll learn things about the universe that will completely surprise us."

Amber Straughn is a Nasa astrophysicist working on the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).

She’s part of a team preparing to send the telescope into space.

Designed to find the very first galaxies JWST is expected to be 100 times more powerful than the Hubble telescope. It costs $10bn and is the size of a tennis court.

Images from the telescope should start to reach us by Summer 2022.
