How Alabama’s IVF ruling is dividing devout Christians | BBC News

Following Alabama’s ruling that frozen embryos are children, some Christian groups have been left divided.

The decision made by Alabama’s Supreme Court last week meant IVF treatment had to be paused and has left some Christian groups torn on the ruling and the role of theology in US lawmaking.

Margaret Boyce is a devout Christian who was days away from her first IVF appointment when the ruling came into place.

Although the ruling did not explicitly ban or restrict IVF treatment it has still created deep uncertainty for clinics and medical workers who handle embryos and fear prosecution.
