Global military spending grew for the eighth consecutive year to hit a record high in 2022, according to new data from a conflict research institute in Sweden.
A total of $2.24tn was invested in things like weapons, personnel, and research.
The US was the biggest spender globally with a military budget about three times that of the next largest, China. Russia was in third place.
Ukraine’s own military spending has risen more than 600% since the conflict began.
