Marine Le Pen has been banned from running for public office for five years, meaning she cannot run in the 2027 French presidential election.
She was found guilty of embezzling European funds to finance her National Rally (RN) party.
In addition to the ban from running for public office, she has been sentenced to four years’ imprisonment, two of which will be suspended – though it is not known if she’ll actually spend time in jail or if she will have restrictions, such as wearing an electronic tag.
