Former US President Donald Trump was in Washington DC to make his third appearance as a criminal defendant in four months.

Mr Trump has been fingerprinted and is now in the courtroom waiting to hear charges of conspiring to obstruct and overturn the 2020 election result.

The former president, 77, has pleaded not guilty to all four charges against him.

The next hearing in this case, with Judge Tanya Chutkan, will take place on 28 August at 10:00 local time (15:00 BST).

He travelled to court in a large motorcade alongside Secret Service agents and media.

After his arraignment, Mr Trump is expected to immediately return to Washington Reagan National airport and head home to New Jersey.
