Deforestation: What’s wrong with planting new forests? – BBC News


Forest area has been increasing in some parts of the world, but deforestation is continuing at speed in others.

At the COP26 climate conference, world leaders pledged to end deforestation by 2030, in a historic move aimed at combatting climate change.

Can the trees we are planting make up for those that are being cut down?
