Dead migrants in fishing nets and graveyards under pressure in Tunisia – BBC Newsnight

Warning: This film contains images you may find distressing

For as long as anyone can remember, humanity has been on the move. Some people move in search of work, to join family, or to study.

Others to escape conflict, persecution, or human rights violations; some in response to the adverse effects of climate change or natural disasters.

Last week the tragic capsizing of a fishing boat crowded with migrants trying to cross the Mediterranean was a stark reminder of the terrible risks people are willing to take.

Mike Thomson has been to Tunisia for Newsnight to investigate the plight of those seeking to leave the shores of North Africa.
