The Martinez family are among thousands who have been evacuated in California, after a wildfire "behaving unlike any other [officials] had seen."
The family live in Mariposa County, on the edge of Yosemite National Park, in a home that has now been obliterated by fires. They had 15 cats, some of whom did not survive the blaze, while others are still missing.
The BBC’s James Clayton went with the Martinez family as they returned to the remains of their property for the first time.
