All civilians in Gaza City are being told to leave their homes and head south. The Israeli army has dropped thousands of leaflets telling more than a quarter of a million people that the area remains a dangerous combat zone.
The UN has said it is deeply concerned about the evacuation orders being given. It is the second time since the war began that Gaza City as a whole has been asked to evacuate.
Further south at least 29 Palestinians have been killed and dozens more wounded in an Israeli airstrike on a camp for displaced people.
Gaza’s Hams-run health ministry says the strike was next to the gates of a school east of the city of Khan Younis.
The Israeli military said it had used "precise munition" to target a "terrorist from Hamas’ military wing" who had taken part in the 7 October attack on Israel. It said it was "looking into the reports that civilians were harmed" adjacent to the school.
