Afghan athlete Zakia Khudadadi wins first-ever medal for Refugee Paralympic Team | BBC News


Zakia Khudadadi has made history at the Paris Paralympics by becoming the first athlete from the Refugee Paralympic Team to win a medal.

Khudadadi took home bronze in the women’s Parataekwondo K44 -47kg division on Thursday.

The 25-year-old, who was born without a forearm, was evacuated from Afghanistan in 2021 and made her Paralympic debut at Tokyo.

She dedicated her win to women in Afghanistan and all the refugees.
