A record number of people have made the perilous trek through the Darién Gap jungle to try and reach the US this year.
Driven by economic and political crises in their country, more than 100,000 Venezuelans have made the passage, compared with fewer than 3,000 in 2021.
The Darién Gap jungle sits between Panama and Colombia. It has no roads, and is known for being patrolled by criminal gangs.
There are fears more people will be encouraged to make the journey, as the US looks set to repeal an emergency order that allows it to expel migrants from its southern border.
